The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 116
In the Māori fairy tale, The Wooden Head, we learn that dreamwork was in use in New Zealand in ancient times. We also learn that value was placed on the moments before sleep and the moments before waking. These are occulted times of the day and night, when our beings are in a suggestible state. The protagonist in The Wooden Head asks for advice on his problem situation, he dreams the solution, awakes and knows what he is to do. He has an understanding of the dream space, the otherworld, the space where souls reside. With young children in the alpha brainwave state and largely operating from the original/subconscious brain… this story serves to affirm this space that they are held in by the Creator. This story shows us how we as adults should revere and work with this space as well. This story serves as an affirmation and example for the young and an inspiration for grown ups.
